Making Rebates Easy For A National Roll-out

Rack Room Shoes

Rack Room Shoes

Rack Room Shoes is a footwear retailer that operates over 450 stores in 35 states under the Rack Room Shoes and Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse brands. To save on their electric bills, Rack Room was preparing a large LED retrofit across a majority of stores. It was going to be a large multi-phase project over several years. Besides the hassle of coordinating an upgrade across hundreds of sites, this project also had the complexity that it wasn't a cookie cutter approach across the stores. Many stores had a mixture of 4' tubes, 2' tubes, U-bents and halogen PARs so every scope of work and rebate application was totally different.

We took all the hassle out of the rebate process

Rack Room Shoes chose BriteSwitch to manage the rebate process so they had one less thing to worry about. Throughout the upgrade, we partnered with their distributor and 2 installers they choose for the project. By working closely with them on streamlining topics like getting invoices and audits directly, we saved Rack Room Shoes staff valuable time and resources. We also helped prioritize the stores based on locations with best rebates, highest energy rates, and programs that would end soon.

In the end, Rack Room had a very successful roll-out. The project helped them save an estimated $1.1 million in annual energy costs. In addition, a third of the stores qualified for rebates, totaling over $150,000 for Rack Room Shoes. Between the energy savings and rebates, the payback for the upgrade was around 1.7 years.
